Faintly Blowing

Our pick for June’s Record of the Month is one for the true collectors: Faintly Blowing, the second and final album by UK band Kaleidoscope. Released in 1969 on Fontana, this is a standout artefact of the late '60s British psychedelic scene, more progressive and moody than their debut (Tangerine Dream), but just as beautifully crafted.
With guitars, baroque instrumentation, and haunting melodies, Faintly Blowing captures the darker side of psychedelia. This UK 1st Pressing on the black/silver Fontana label is highly sought after and a beautiful listen...

Cold Fact is the brilliant debut album from Detroit's singer-songwriter Rodriguez. Born 1942 in the USA, his career had little success in the US but he found success in South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, mostly unbeknown to himself.
Rodriguez's story is an interesting one. For years it was incorrectly rumoured that he had died, but in the late 90s, a group of avid fans in South Africa managed to contact him and find him alive and well in Detroit. That journey was told in the award-winning documentary 'Searching For The Sugar-Man' which helped give him the long-overdue recognition (we've got the soundtrack LP available in store too by the way).
